About Camel
The vast desert of the Arabian Peninsula has shaped a unique culture, and it lies beneath a deep connection with the camel. For centuries, these remarkable animals have been symbols of resilience, cultural identity, and everyday life.
In bedouin and nomadic communities, camels were prized possessions, serving as a reliable source of milk and meat production, wool, hides, a source of transportation, and even as a form of currency and a symbol of status
Camels are believed to have originated in North America around 4D years ago. The ancestors of modern camels migrated to Asia and Africa via the Bering Land Bridge around 3 million years ago. There are two types of camels that exist in today s generation: the dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius), which has a single hump and is native to the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, and the Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus), which has two humps and is native to Central Asia.
